Mankato resident, Lorraine Scheurer, age 92 died Thursday, October 6,
2022 at Laurel’s Peak in Mankato. Private burial will be held at Calvary
Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to St. Croix Hospice.
Lorraine was born October 25, 1929 in Mankato, Minnesota the
daughter of Irenaeus and Katherine (Thiessen) Lynch. She married John
W. Scheurer on June 4, 1947. She was a long time employee of Sears in
Mankato. Lorraine enjoyed polka and country music, going on rides
along the countryside, shopping, and a good cheeseburger accompanied
by a Miller Lite Pony. She was also very aware of the most current
events, had a very quick wit and uncanny recall of memories and dates
of every important event that ever occurred which would amaze us.
Being able to spend time with her family, especially her
great-grandchildren, Nash and Skylar who lovingly called her “GIGI”,
was always a highlight of her day as well.
Lorraine is survived by her children, John L. “Jack” Scheurer (Lourdes)
of Plantation, FL, Sandy (Mike) Newton of Outing, MN, Tammy (Dan)
Corbett of Mankato, MN; grandchildren, Mike Hilger, Matt Hilger,
Nicole Hilger all of North Mankato and Lisa (Slava) Kozoriz of Seattle,
WA; sister, Joanne Olson of Shakopee, MN.
She was preceded in death by her husband John, son Bruce, daughter
Janice Scheurer, grandson John Jesse Scheurer and brothers Larry and
Nick Lynch.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the St Croix
Hospice staff for their dedicated, personable, caring support. We are
forever grateful.
