Lucian Krohling Obituary

Lucian Ray Krohling was born May 6th, 1947 in Marshall, MN to Leon and Vivian Krohling, where he lived with his parents in Minneota, Minnesota during his early childhood.

His family later moved to California where he attended school and graduated from Carlmont High School in Belmont, California in 1965.  Lucian enlisted in the Army after High School and fought front line combat in Vietnam from September 1965 – October 1968 Delta Company 2nd of the 27th , 25th Infantry Wolfhounds.  He was also briefly in Korea prior to being deployed to Vietnam. He is a bronze star decorated veteran

Upon return from Vietnam, he attended Midwest State College in Marshall, MN.  He found his life career in law enforcement.  Over the course of his career, he was a small-town officer in Minneota and Deputy in Blue Earth County.  He graduated from the FBI Academy in 1989.  He retired from law enforcement as a police commander for Blue Earth County. 

Lucian is preceded in death by his parents; sister; stepdaughter, Jennifer Hermel; cousins; aunts; and uncles. 

He is survived by his wife, Julie Warner of North Mankato; son, Ben Krohling of Minneapolis: daughter, Emily Maas and her husband Nate, their four children, Sabella, Sofia, Carlin, and Nova Maas of Owatonna; brother, Curtis Spanton and his wife Carol of Eugene, Oregon; as well as multiple cousins.

 Memorial services will be held at 1pm Wednesday July 23, 2025 at Woodland Hills Funeral Chapel.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park.  Following the graveside service the family will gather at the Morison-Ario-Strand VFW Post #950 for a time of lunch and fellowship.
