Lyall Thomas Widener

Lyall Thomas Widener, age 79, of Fairmont, MN died February 21, 2025 at his home.  Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Woodland Hills Chapel in Mankato with Pastor Cole McCormick, officiating.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.  Interment with military honors will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park.  Woodland Hills Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lyall was born March 4, 1945 in Madison, WI to Clark and Valera (Gollmar)Widener.  He graduated from Baraboo High School. On July 15, 1966 he married Dorla Mutsch at Minneopa State Park.  He served in the Army from 1966-1969.  He enjoyed fishing, watching sports and was a Green Bay Packer fan. Lyall worked at Dotson’s Foundry for many years and then part time for the Mankato Free Press.

Lyall is survived by his son, Darlon Widener of Fairmont, MN; daughters, Simone and Myleen Widener both of Fairmont and Shelia (Alan) Barnett of Mankato, MN; grandchildren, Danielle (Dustin) Theis, Selena (Zachary) Johnson and Alexander Barnett; great granddaughter Morgan Theis; several brothers and sisters.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorla.
