Lyle Daschner Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lyle Daschner, who left this world far too soon after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. He passed away on September 18, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family, just four days after his diagnosis.

Born on January 31st, 1949, in Mankato, MN. Lyle was a man who lived with purpose and passion. He was known for his unwavering work ethic, whether he was scrapping metal at home, laboring with Bruender Construction, or tending to the land through farming and custom combining. He was always ready to lend a hand to neighboring farms, never hesitating to jump in wherever help was needed. He was shaped by a lifetime of hard work and took pride in doing things the right way. After a long day of hard work, there was nothing he enjoyed more than sitting down and watching WWE—often sharing laughs and commentary with family or friends.

Lyle was a jack-of-all-trades and a master of many. From welding to wrenching, hauling to harvesting, he tackled every task with grit and grace. He didn’t just work hard—he worked with heart. Among his many skills, he was also remarkably handy with carpentry, building and fixing with the same care and craftsmanship he brought to everything he did.

He also found peace in fishing, whether casting a line from the shore, sitting quietly in a boat, or spending early mornings hunting ducks and afternoons chasing pheasants, it was his way of slowing down and enjoying the simple pleasures of life. His love for Case IH tractors was more than a hobby—it was a passion. Red tractors were his pride and joy, and he could talk shop for hours with anyone who shared his enthusiasm. Fireworks were another delight, especially when shared with his grandkids. His backyard displays lit up the sky and their faces, creating memories that will sparkle forever.

A proud member of his community, Lyle served on the Blue Earth County Fair Board for many years. He played a key role in setting up the local tractor pull association, sharing his love of horsepower and competition. He was a member of the Pioneer Power Association, where he celebrated the legacy of farming and machinery with fellow enthusiasts.

Above all, Lyle was a family man. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, and a beloved grandfather. He spent countless hours supporting his kids and grandson in their racing careers—tuning engines and cheering them on with unwavering pride. He also found immense joy in watching his granddaughter perform in dance recitals, beaming with pride from the audience at every performance. All of his grandkids knew him as their biggest fan and storyteller, and each one held a special place in his heart. Whether sharing laughs, lending a helping hand, or simply spending time together, he made every grandchild feel deeply loved and valued.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis Daschner; His children: Andy Daschner and his wife Missy (Wilmes), Adam Daschner and his wife Katie (Zarling). His grandchildren: McCray Grams, Mollee Grams, Kielee Grams, Justin Daschner and Alyssa Daschner each of whom brought him endless joy and pride.
He was preceded in death by his parents Martin Daschner and Mabel Daschner.
