Marcella Glamm Obituary

Marcella M. Glamm, age 93 of Mankato, formerly of St. Clair, MN passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Oaklawn Rehabilitation Center in Mankato.

A Christian Funeral Service for Marcella M. Glamm will be Friday, June 9, 2023 at 2 P.M. at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Smiths Mill, with Rev. Robert Harting officiating. The Glamm family invites everyone to stay for a time of lunch and fellowship following the service at the church. A private family burial was held at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Cemetery in St. Clair.

Visitation will be on Friday afternoon from 12 P.M. until the hour of services at the church. Memorials may be directed to St. Clair Fire Department or Trinity Lutheran Church, Smiths Mill. Arrangements by Woodland Hills Funeral Home of Mankato.

Marcella Mae was born on November 14, 1929, to Lloyd Harrison and Flossie May (Danner) Bartlett in rural Titonka, Iowa. She graduated from Titonka High School and furthered her education at Mankato State Teachers College in Mankato. On October 22, 1950, she was united in marriage to Donald Eugene Glamm in Titonka. Throughout her life she was involved with education. Marcella taught elementary students in Beauford, Comfrey, North Mankato, and St. Clair public schools. She and her husband were grain and dairy farmers on the rural Janesville family farm. After she and her husband retired from farming and moved to St. Clair, she was a volunteer advocating for children in court cases. Marcella also supervised parent’s visitations with their children. She read a daily newspaper and took pride in solving the Word Jumbles. She was also a seamstress who could do everything from mending jeans to furniture upholstery. Marcella moved to Pathstone Crossing Assisted Living in Mankato in November of 2019. For many years she served on the St. Clair Board of Education. She was also a member of the St. Clair American Legion Auxiliary, and Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Smiths Mill. Marcella loved time spent with her family and friends.

She is survived by her son, David A. Glamm (Michele Sievert) of rural Janesville; daughter, Joanne Glamm of St. Clair; grandchildren, Tammy (Jake) Jerdee of St. Clair; LT(USN) John (Bethenie) Glamm of Oklahoma City, OK; CPO (USN) Terry Glamm (Kayla Rohde, St. Clair)  of Lemoore, CA; great-grandchildren, Abbigail and Brynlee Jerdee, Brayden and Bryson Glamm; sister, Mary Ann (Dick) Rasmussen of Coon Rapids; numerous nieces and nephews; sisters in law, Carolyn (Curt) Hall of Bigfork and Virgene Volkmann of Waseca; many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald E. Glamm in 2009; brother, Merlyn Bartlett; sister, Lucille Hanson.
