Marcella Wytaske Obituary

Woodland Hills Funeral Home 507-387-5504

Marcella Mae Wytaske passed away on January 22, 2023.

Marcella was born on November 10, 1938, in Mankato, Minnesota to her parents Verona and Owen Benton. Marcy was one of six children; family life was very important to her throughout her life. She met her husband Eugene Robert Wytaske at the roller rink and they were married in 1955. They shared 67 years of marriage. Marcy and Gene would welcome five children to their family Little Gene, Donna, Paul, Louise and Rob. Marcy will be best remembered for all the wonderful cooking and baking she did for her family and friends. She cooked at Franklin Elementary, Mankato State University, Gustavus Adolphus College, and Ecumen Sand Prairie Assisted Living. She loved gardening, canning and sharing with her family and friends. If you truly knew Marcy, you knew she loved owls. She is said to have over 1000 different owls. She was very sentimental about her owl heirlooms. Marcy's life is best summarized in Psalm 31 as a humble wife, quiet, and faithful. She instilled in us a faith that is lived out through her children and their families. Marcy and Gene traveled to Texas as Winter Texans for many years. Building a bond with family and friends in Texas. Marcy enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who adored her. Marcy will always be fondly remembered for her quiet, gentle spirit and generous heart.

Marcy was an incredible gift not only to her family but to all that knew her! She was a daily picture of grace and a giver of encouragement and wisdom. She was a shining example of what a strong, faithful, passionate, hard-working woman looks like. She was kind, generous, always spoke truth and was an example of how to be an amazing loving woman and have fun along the way.

The family would like to thank the Mayo Hospice East Team for the care they provided Marcella.

Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and two brothers, and her oldest son Little Gene.

She leaves to cherish her memories her beloved husband Eugene Robert Wytaske, two sons, Paul (Sandy), Robert (Josie) and two daughters, Donna Wytaske (Bill Waggener) and Louise Simonette (Chris), Her brother Gordon Benton (Lizeth). 8 Grandchildren and 21+ great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many friends.
