Mankato resident Margaret “Muggs” Schulze, age 92, died Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at Hillcrest Rehabilitation Center in Mankato. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Woodland Hills Funeral Chapel in Mankato with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Woodland Hills Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Muggs was born November 1, 1930 in Blue Earth County, Minnesota to William and Mary McGuire. She graduated from Lake Crystal High School and after receiving a teacher’s degree from Mankato Teachers College she taught 1st grade in North Mankato and Elysian. On February 21, 1953 she married Clarence “Chic” Schulze. She worked as a waitress for the Holiday House, Colony Club, Best Western, Copper Alley and ran the concessions at Lewis Eastgate. She also was a tour guide for Waseca Country Tours, activities assistant at Mankato Lutheran Home and volunteered for St. Joeseph the Worker Serving Guild and Hillcrest Rehabilitation Center. Muggs enjoyed crocheting, sewing, thrift store shopping, baking, canning, gardening, water walking at the Garden Inn, golfing and most of all loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Muggs is survived by son, Larry (Kris) Schulze, Madison Lake, MN; daughters, Sharon (Bill) Schindle, North Mankato, MN, Kathryn (Jim) Sloan, Mankato, MN, Julie (Gordon) Williams, Mt. Carmel, UT; grandchildren, Barry (Kayla), Samantha (Mike), Andy, Lindsey, Taran (Joe) and Ben; great grandchildren, Isabella, Henry, Aaron, Frederick, Isaac, Titus, Owen, Abel; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Conrad and Mary Jane McGuire; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chic in 2019; 3 brothers, Bill, Eddie (Mary) and Paul.
