Martha C. Jensen

Martha Christine Jensen passed away on February 14, 2025, after a Courageous battle with cancer. Martha died peacefully in the arms of Jesus with Her family by her side.

A Celebration of Martha’s Life will be Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 1-5 P.M. at Pond View Heights Community Room 910 Patriot Dr. Mankato, MN 56001. Woodland Hills Funeral Home of Mankato is assisting the family with arrangements. www.woodlandhillsfh.com

Martha was born in Glenwood, Minnesota on March 2, 1936, to Pastor Edward and Matilda Barsness. She graduated from Rothsay High School and continued on to Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. During her college years she competed and won both Miss Decorah and Miss Iowa Titles. As Miss Iowa l956 she participated in the Miss America pageant receiving $1,000 Dollar music scholarship.

On June 7, 1958, she married Roger Jensen in Rothsay, Minnesota.They lived in Mankato, Minnesota where they raised their two sons Tom and Paul.

Martha loved music and used her skills as a choir director and organist at Christ the King Lutheran Church, as well as a piano and voice teacher. Her hobbies were gardening, card making and was a tremendous seamstress. She also enjoyed going to Arizona in the winter.

She loved her family and cared for others, and first and foremost loved her Savior.

She leaves behind her two sons Tom and Paul (Danette) 4 grandchildren Jeff, Vanessa, Matt (Christina), Ryan and 3 great grandchildren Kalli, Maverick And Kacey, Sisters Kathy (Roger) Bilden, Anita (John) Aamot, sister-in-law Ilona (John) Barsness, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roger, his parents Jens and Kathryn Jensen, her

Parents, brothers Paul, John, sister Norma and brother-in-law Dean Buzay.
