Matthew R. Young, age 44 of St. Clair, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023.

A Celebration of Matthew’s Life will be 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Christ the King Lutheran Church 222 Pfau St. in Mankato, MN 56001, with Pastor John Petersen officiating. A time of fellowship and lunch will be held after the services at the church. Interment will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato.

The Young family will greet friends on Thursday morning from 9:00 A.M. until the hour of services at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred. Woodland Hills Funeral Home of Mankato is assisting the family with arrangements. www.woodlandhillsfh.com

Matthew Richard was born on August 30, 1978 to Randell Ray and Mary Susan (Barrickman) Young in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. He graduated from Rockford High School in 1997, and furthered his education at St. Cloud Technical College earning an Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering, graduating in 1999. On September 6, 2003 he was united in marriage to Anna Louise Busch at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Mankato. After their marriage Matthew and Anna moved to St. Clair where they were raising their family. Early in his career he was employed by Bolton and Menk in Mankato, and most recently as a Project Manager for the Minnesota Department of Transportation in Mankato. Matthew enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, cooking, hunting for mushrooms, and cooking maple syrup. He loved time spent with his family, and his dogs, Keyne and Linus.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Young of St. Clair; daughters, Katelyn Young and Meg Young both of St. Clair; parents, Randell (Mary) Young of Corcoran; brother, Andrew (Angela) Young of Champlin; sister, Kara (Nick) Ehrman of Eagan; father-in-law, George Busch of St. Peter; brother-in-law Jamie Busch of Mankato; sisters-in-law Kelly (Marty) Garvin of Fort Collins, CO, Noelle Busch of Mankato; nieces and nephews, Maleyna, Ellie and Cade Ehrman, Ivy Young, Jacob, Sam, and Noah Busch, Olivia, and Luke Garvin.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marvin (Margaret) Young, and Lloyd (Frances) Barrickman; uncles, Wayne Young, and Buzz Barrickman; mother-in-law, Laura Busch.
