Michael Owen Daly

Michael Owen Daly, age 79, of Eagle Lake, MN died Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Monarch Meadows in North Mankato, surrounded by his family.  Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Mankato with Rev. Neil Ellingson officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Woodland Hills Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Michael was born November 21, 1943 in Fargo, North Dakota to Floyd and Blanche (Rebuck) Daly. After graduating high school, he attended Moorhead State University where he earned a Bachelor Degree in Psychology and Sociology.  On August 29, 1965 he married Marlys Sebens in Milnor, North Dakota.

Michael worked as Counselor for MN Services for the Blind, Counselor for Detox Center, St. Peter State Hospital, New York Life, Butternut Electronics, sales for Kirby and sales for Twin City Auto Glass.

He enjoyed sailing, ham radio and guitar, volunteering for Diversity Counsel, Family Friendship Program at MSU-Mankato, English as a Second Language at Lincoln, election judge, Red Cross Blood Donor, having donated 18 gallons of blood, AFS Intercultural Host, SMILES and Camp Courage.  He was a member of the Jaycees, Kiwanis and First Congregational United Church of Christ.

Michael is survived by his wife, Marlys of Eagle Lake, MN; daughter, Kathleen “Katie” (Lyle) Jones of Saint Peter, MN; son, Brendan (Chelle) Daly of Chandler, AZ; daughter, Meghan Petersen (Monte Lewis) of Mankato, MN; grandchildren, Peter (Ellen) LeBeau, Rachel LeBeau, Audrey Daly, Kelden Daly, Kaeden Daly, Kylee (Josh) Serafin, Ryan Petersen, Barbara (Rob) Long; great grandchildren, Ada, Ash, Asa Long, Luke LeBeau, Jessica, Hunter, Anika Serafin; brother, Terrence (Linda) Daly; nieces and nephews, Katherine Kleingartner, James Kleingartner, Michelle Daly, John Daly; family by affection, Gaby Fong (daughter), Rose Bhandari (granddaughter).  He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Nancy Daly and Laurie Kleingartner, Charlie Saied (fraternal brother).
