Michael A Oachs

Michael A. Oachs, 69, of Mankato, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at his home on August 10, 2025. He was born on July 23, 1956, at Lutheran Hospital in Mankato to Milton and Verona (Funke) Oachs.

A proud graduate of Mankato West High School (Class of 1974), Michael went on to earn his Low Boiler Operation Technician Certification from Mankato Vo-Tech in 1976. Over the years, he dedicated his career to boiler operations and custodial work in various roles throughout Mankato. Among his many positions, his favorite was working at The Inn Town Motel, where he formed lasting friendships and took great pride in his work.

Michael retired at the age of 65, cherishing more time with family and friends. He had a passion for collecting Garfield memorabilia and enjoyed relaxing with his favorite TV shows. Above all, Michael will be remembered for his easygoing nature, his love for those around him, and the joy he found in life’s simple pleasures.

He is survived by his children: Rebecca (Mark) Jones of Dawson, IA; Timothy (Julia) Oachs of St. Paul, MN; and Krystle (Brandon) Brewer of Des Moines, IA. He was a proud grandfather to Asia Brewer, Desiree Brewer, Domenic Oachs, Ryleigh Oachs, Hazel Oachs, and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of a granddaughter and grandson. He is also survived by his brother Allan (Chris) Oachs of Mankato, MN, along with many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Verona Oachs; brothers Dennis and Steve Oachs; aunt Jeanie Funke; and uncles Ruben, Wilber, and Bernie Funke.

Michael’s memory will be cherished by all who knew him, and his gentle spirit will be deeply missed.

Michael August Oachs service will be August 28th, 2025 at Hosanna Church in Mankato with visitation at 10am and memorial service at 11am. Following the service there will be a small grave site service at Woodland Hills Cemetery..
