Michael Platt

Michael Joseph Platt, age 92, of Mankato, died Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Mankato Lodge. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Mankato with Fr. Tim Reker, officiating.  Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service at church.  Interment will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the VA in Michael’s name. 

Michael was born July 15, 1931 in Algona, IA to Joseph and Elizabeth (Marking) Platt.  He served in the US Air Force after graduating high school and then worked for Mankato Free Press for over 30 years.

Michael enjoyed woodworking, restoring old pickup trucks, going to Pioneer Power, tractor pulls with friends, making tinmen, coffee with friends at Hy Vee and he loved watching the Twins and Vikings.  He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church.

Michael is survived by sons, Michael and Steve; daughters, Pam (James) and Brenda (Tim); grandchildren, Dylan and Grace; sisters, Rosie and Sister Hermann.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Donna; daughter, Teri; 5 brothers, and 2 sisters.
