Nicolas Blace Obituary

Nicolas Robert Blace, 44, of Chugiak, AK, was a legend who made everyone feel like they were his best friend. He left us suddenly on August 9th, 2023, during a hunting trip in Denali National Park and Preserve.

Nick was fearless and lived without regret. He excelled at everything he tried. As a child, he was an adept golfer and hockey player and he dreamed of working on airplanes. After graduating from Apple Valley High School, he joined the Air Force in 1997 and did exactly that. In fact, he did it so well that he received awards at the Pentagon-level. As an adult, he dreamed of becoming an inflight refueling specialist (boom operator). Again, not only was he hired for the position, but he also became a trainer, traveled the world, and was even featured on national news. While traveling the world was fun, Nick recognized that he was gone too much and launched his own general contracting company to spend more time at home. It was so successful that he decided to leave the Air Force after 23 years to do it full time.

Nick would try anything and did things most people only dream of. He was an accomplished marksman, avid hunter and fisherman, all skills of a true Alaskan. If he was near the beach, you could find him using his advanced scuba certification. He was close to completing his pilot’s license, loved cooking and a good (or free) beer – yet he was never too busy to lend a hand to his friends.

Nick is survived by his wife, Keri; his daughter, Emma; his mother, Karen Plummer; his father, Rick Blace (Mary); his brother, Jonathan Plummer; his sister, Kaitlyn (Travis) Wyman, nieces and nephews Eden, Parker, Landon, Saylor and Grandpa, Ken Plummer along with extended family that includes many loving uncles, aunts, and friends and their two beloved pups, Boomer and Hank.
