Norman Glaubitz, 83 passed away November 25,2022 at Pathstone Crossing where he had been a resident since April as he surrendered to cancer.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday December 1, 2022 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Amboy, Mn. All are invited to lunch following the service. Visitation and fellowship with the family will continue until 6pm at the church.
Norman was born March 2,1939 in Sterling Township to Malte and Lydia (Blume) Glaubitz. He attended the Ridge Country School for 8 years and graduated from Amboy High School in 1957.
He married Betty Masters May 23, 1964. They had four children, Joel, John, James and Joan. They lived in Amboy, owned and operated Norman’s cafe for 23 years. Norman also cooked at the Amboy High School, Junction Inn and Country Dining. After moving to Mankato Norman worked in Housekeeping at the Mankato Clinic until his retirement. For many years Norman would attend county fairs and festivals serving up his famous homemade onion rings. Often replicated…never duplicated!
Norman was a lifelong member of St. Paul,s Lutheran Church where he held many positions of leadership. His faith was strong and always showed that in his daily life. He was always there to lend a hand or smile to someone in need. He was a charter member of the Amboy Lions Club until his death.
Anyone that knew him would know he loved flowers, gardening and collecting anything that still had a use! He took great pride in holding garage sales, sending cards for all occasions to family and friends and getting his mail each day!
Survived by his wife of 58 years Betty. Children James (Holly) of River Falls WI, John of Waupun WI and Joan (Dean) of Amboy. Grandsons Nate (Emily), Sam (Camryn), and Gabe. He was anticipating the arrival of his first two great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents. His oldest son Joel. His three sisters and their husbands, Cora (Wilmer) Borchardt, Mary (Art) Wilson, Grace (Herman) Miller.
