Paula Lanier, born August 18, 1962, God called her home on March 21, 2026, surrounded by her friends at North Pointe Community. She went peacefully to heaven to be reunited with her beloved husband, “chicken baby,” Charles Ferguson, a reunion that was long anticipated and deeply cherished.
Paula was a woman whose energy could light up any room she entered. Her humor, warmth, and vibrant personality were unforgettable, leaving lasting impressions on all who knew her. She possessed a brilliant mind for numbers and was always eager to lend a helping hand, whether to family, friends, or those she served in her work. Her and Charles played an instrumental role with Change Doty in tracing the Chacta family lineage
Throughout her life, Paula took pride in her strong work ethic and dedication to caring for others. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant, a housekeeper, a security guard and a Sunday school teacher, roles that reflected her compassion, energy, and willingness to do whatever was needed.
She is lovingly survived by her sisters Canary, Neacia and Vanessa Lanier, Margaret Bynes, Lashawn Irving, brothers Joseph and Derrik Irving, stepchildren Tina and Mekel Branick. She is also survived by her adopted family: Granny, Wayne, Ravi and Esther. Relatives, friends and her special “Momma” Kim Putz Montemurno, will miss her dearly and carry her memory in their hearts forever.
Paula was proceeded in death by her loving husband of 25 years, her twin brother Paul and her parents Juanita Lanier and Bennie L Davis
Paula’s legacy lives on through the laughter she shared, the care she gave, and the love she spread so freely. She will be remembered always for her bright spirit, and the joy she brought into the lives of others.
A celebration of life will be held at North Pointe Living Community, 2148 Arlington Lane North Mankato, MN 56003, on Sunday, April, 12 2026 from 11:00am – 2pm.
