Robert Doering

Robert Gerald Doering was born October 19, 1942.  He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church Good Thunder.  Robert (Bob) passed away at the age of 80 on May 30, 2023.  Memorial Services will be held at 11am Saturday June 10, 2023 at St. John’s Lutheran Church Good Thunder with a visitation one hour prior to the services at the church.  Private Interment will be at Barnard Valley View Cemetery in Good Thunder. 

Robert attended school in Good Thunder and Mapleton, and went on to serve in the Army before he married his lifelong partner Leanna (Wiebold) on June 28, 1969.  Bob was a lifelong farmer, and milked cows for over 40 years, along with cropping and raising livestock for 4-H and FFA projects with their children.  Bob was quiet and humble, often referred to as a gentle giant by family, who appreciated his soft-spoken humor and gentle chuckle.  Bob loved being outdoors, taking care of animals, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. 

Bob is survived by his wife of 53 years Leanna, his son James, son Jason and wife Jenny, son Jonathan and wife Amy, son Justin and wife Michelle, grandchildren Brandon and wife Becca, Brian and wife Jackie, Kylie and fiancé Hayden, Brock, Ashlyn, Benaiah, Levi, Grace, Colton, Morgan, Charlotte, Eloise,and Cecilia, and six great grandchildren, Brantley, Brysen, Bennett, Hudson, Berkley and Maizy, brother Royce and wife Sharon Doering, brother Laverne and wife Shirley Doering, sister Carolyn and husband James Gates, sister in law Rita Wiebold, brother in law Loren Wiebold and sister in law Martha, and sister in law Lynda Schull and husband Glenn, and many nieces and nephews. 

Robert was preceded in death by his parents Martin and Dorothy Doering, and brothers Wallace and Coral.
