Roger N. Miller

Roger N. Miller, age 94, of No. Mankato, MN, passed December 23, 2023 at Oaklawn Rehabilitation Center in Mankato.  A celebration of Roger’s life will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2023 at Woodland Hills Funeral Chapel in Mankato.  Visitation will be 9 a.m. until time of service. Military Honors will be provided by the Mankato Area Veterans Memorial Squad. Memorials may be given to Wounded Warrior Project or Paralyzed Veterans of America.

Roger was born, December 21, 1929 in Good Thunder, MN to August and Catherine (Burtzel) Miller. He married the love of his life Margaret “Peggy” Noonan February 18, 1952 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.  He was a Sergeant First Class in the US Army, serving from 1952-1953.  He worked at NorthStar Concrete in Mankato for 49 years.

Roger (the Smiley Man) loved to walk in lower No. Mankato, playing cards, scratchies, and never missed a chance to go to Mystic Lake and loved watching sports and westerns. He especially loved spending time with family. He was a member of the Eagle Lake American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy; daughters, Karen Sandmeyer, Gayle (Dick) Stelten; all of No. Mankato, son, Timothy (Jodie) Miller of Mankato; grandchildren, Nick (Faith) Ryg, Stacy (Jerry) Salfer, Hannah (Ryan) Miller, Emily (Cameron) Maxon; great grandchildren, Jordan, Avery and Easton Ryg, Finley Salfer, Maeve and Griffin Maxon;  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Leroy, Alfred, Albert, Wallace, Tony, Harold and Dale; sisters Dorothy, Madell, Leota and Loretta; son-in-law, Dale Sandmeyer.
