Obituary

Woodland Hills Funeral Home 507-387-5504

Samm Veroeven, 65, passed away unexpectedly at his home on November 15, 2021.

Samm was born on April 8, 1956, to Edward and Jeanne (Klaseus) Veroeven in Mankato, MN.

Even as a boy, Samm was a dedicated, hard worker on the family dairy farm. He worked with his Uncle Ray and Aunt Donna Veroeven in their painting business, at Ramy Seed Company, and has helped his Uncle Dave Veroeven farm for over 50 years. He worked at MICO, Inc., for 36 years as a CNC Machine Operator, retiring in 2015.

His patience, hard work and caring nature was unmatched with the love he shared while raising his daughter Whitney as a single dad. You may have seen them both at any one of the numerous car shows, tractor pulls, county fairs, threshing bees or Pioneer Power Shows they enjoyed attending. We could always count on Samm to repair any of our small engines or have a spare lawn mower or any other type of machine he just repaired to let us use. He went above and beyond to lend a helping hand whenever asked, would be the first to show up and the last to sit down. He thoroughly enjoyed collecting and tinkering with antique tractors and restoring his ‘68 International Pickup and ‘73 Chevy Chevelle SS. Samm was excited to have just acquired the 720 John Deere tractor he had farmed with since the age of 10 from his Uncle Dave and had started the process of restoring it.

Samm is survived by his daughter Whitney, his brothers Steve, Scott (Bill), and Stace (Kate), his sisters Sue, Ruth Aberwald (Tom), Jann (Brian Arett) and Laurie as well as Chris Schneider (Bruce’s partner) and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bruce. I’m sure as surprised as they were to see Samm, they are now enjoying a lively game of pfeffer. The world has lost a wonderful man, father, brother and uncle. Our family cannot begin to describe how much he will be missed. We will always remember his laughter and the witty one-liners only Samm could deliver with his sly smile.

A celebration of Samm’s life will be held at a later date. Woodland Hills Funeral Home of Mankato is assisting the family with arrangements.
