Scott A. Mende

Scott A. Mende, age 74 of Madison Lake, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Mankato.

A memorial service for family and close friends will be held at the Janesville United Methodist Church on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at 3 pm, and a celebration of life will be held at the Purple Goose in Janesville on Friday, September 8, 2023 at 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Blue Earth Nicollet County Humane Society (BENCHS). Scott was born on March 14, 1949, to Mabel Ewert and Caleb Mende in Waterloo, Iowa. He grew up in Janesville with his brothers Roger, Alan, and Richard Mende. He graduated from Janesville High School and attended MSU. On April 3, 1970, he married Pat Wussow. Scott and Pat went on to have two daughters, Wendy and Nicci.

Scott was a salesman at Clements Chevrolet until he opened Mende Chevrolet in Le Center in 1975. In 1981, he sold the dealership and established a successful real estate sales and investment company in Madison Lake with his wife Pat.

Scott was an avid golfer and Twins fan. He loved playing horseshoes, listening to old radio shows, and watching old comedies like Laurel and Hardy and The Three Stooges. He always had his Springer Spaniel at his side and looked forward to his family vacations to Mexico. 

He is survived by his wife Pat, his daughters Wendy (Gary), and Nicci (Graham), his grandchildren Dewey (Lynsey) and Trista (Aaron), and great-grandchildren Talen, Milo, and Huxley.  

He was predeceased by his parents, Mabel Ewert and Caleb Mende, and brothers, Alan and Richard.
