Shirley Ann Baade

Shirley Baade, 87, North Mankato, died Tuesday May 3, 2022 at Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter.  Visitation will be held from 1- 3pm Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Woodland Hills Funeral Home.  Private interment will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park.  woodlandhillsfh.com 

Shirley was born on March 26, 1935 in New Ulm to Neils and Arra Madsen

She graduated from New Ulm High School.  After graduation, she was employed by the New Ulm grocery store.  That is where she met the love of her life Dalaine Baade.  They were married on November 17 1954 and enjoyed 62 wonderful years together.

Dalaine and Shirley moved to North Mankato after they were married and that is where they raised their four daughters.  Shirley ran a daycare out of her home for 40 years and absolutely loved all of the children that she took care of.  Having to retire was one of the hardest things that she had to do which is why she waited until she was almost 70 to do so.

Shirley loved to shop and it didn’t matter if it was out of a catalog or at a craft sale or a garage sale.  It always made her happy to shop.  She loved her church friends and enjoyed singing in the church choir for many years.  Shirley was very active and always had an immaculate house and yard.  It was always  funny to see her out in the yard vacuuming up birdseed from under her bird feeder and there was never a leaf to be found in her yard.  Walking on her grass was like walking on a thick, plush carpet and she was very proud of that.

Shirley is survived by her four daughters and their spouses – Deborah (Wayne) Huettl, Dixie (Greg) Gatewod, Vickie (Tim) Senne and Tracey (Dave) Morris.  Seven Grandchildren-Amanda, Jason, Josh, Jenny, Emily, William and David.  She was also blessed with 11 Great Grand Children.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dalaine in 2016, her parents and by all of her siblings.  Shirley was ready to be back with Dalaine again as she missed him dearly.
