Thomas R Goettl

Tom Goettl, lifetime resident of Mankato, passed away peacefully Monday, November 14th, 2022 at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Rochester at St. Mary's Campus. He was surrounded by family and loved ones by his side.

Tom was born October 21, 1936 in Mankato to Albert and Helen (Ryland) Goettl. He was a high school graduate, attending Loyola and Mankato High. He was united in marriage to Rose Lavitschke on August 8th, 1959. He served in the National Guard, was a longtime farmer and owner/operator of Goettl Bus Service for 25 years.  After selling Goettl Bus Service he continued to drive buses until retirement.

Throughout his life he had many interests. He loved spending time with family and friends, was an avid tennis player (league player), and loved camping, especially with his RV's. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and found pleasure in gardening and playing practical jokes. One of Tom's favorite delights was enjoying Rose's delicious home cooked meals and desserts, especially her ground cherry and peach pies!

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Rose Goettl of Mankato; Children, Juanita Webster (Skip - deceased) of Plymouth, Dan (Kim) Goettl of Anoka, Bob (Kathy) Goettl of Elizabeth, CO, Kevin (Molly) Goettl of Stevens Point, WI, Ed (Jane) Goettl of Mankato, and David (Shelly) Goettl of Mankato; Janelle (Al) Crescini of St. Anthony Village, and Janine (Chris) Baker of St. Louis Park; 26 loving grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; Sister, Audrey Lynch of Waseca and many nieces and nephews.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Helen Goettl and brother Tim (Timothy) Goettl.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, November 18th at Ss. Peter & Paul's Catholic Church. Visitation from 9:30am up to time of service. Church is located at 105 N. 5th Street, Mankato.  A reception to follow at church, all are welcome.   Private family interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato.
