Willard C. “Will” Hensel, age 61 of Mankato, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems-St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester after a brief illness, surrounded by his family.
Memorial services will be on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at 12 P.M. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church 304 Monroe Ave, North Mankato, MN 56003, with Pastor Marques Nelson officiating. Following Will’s memorial service the family invites everyone in attendance to a time of lunch and fellowship.
Visitation will be on Tuesday morning for one hour prior to memorial service at the church.
Willard C. “Will” was born on May 21, 1962 to Willard E. and Phyllis M. (Hill) Hensel in Geneva, IL. He graduated from West Chicago High School in West Chicago, IL. On November 20, 1992 he was united in marriage to Gloria C. Neuhaus in Galena, IL. After their marriage Will and Gloria lived in Appleton, WI. for 22 years, during this time he was a manager for Perkins Restaurant for 10 years, then he was employed at Kwik Trip in customer service before moving to Mankato, MN. where he continued his employment with Kwik Trip. He enjoyed sports, especially the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears, camping, nature, watching and feeding the squirrels and birds. He loved spending time with his family and his faithful dog, Cooper. Will was a kind, humorous, and loving companion who made everyone laugh, and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria of Mankato; daughter, Nicole Hensel of Mankato; son, Zak Hensel of Mankato; sister, Christie (Bill) Kuntz of Batavia, IL; brothers, Carey (Donna) Hensel of Sandwich, IL, Craig (Alley) Hensel of West Chicago, IL; by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Cheryl Stephano, and Colleen Buhrke.
