With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of William (Willy) John Diel of Mankato who died at age 68 on December 18, 2024, in his home surrounded by family and friends after a short battle with cancer. In remembrance, a gathering will take place on January 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church, Mankato. We welcome all who knew him to join us in celebrating the life of a man who was loved deeply and will be missed.
Willy was born to parents Herb and Betty (Haxton) Diel, on December 8, 1956 in Mankato, MN. Willy attended school in Amboy, MN. He was a roofer in his earlier years until injury prohibited his ability to continue working.
Willy was proceeded in death by his parents, stepmother Linda Diel, sisters Linda Hanson and Sandra Blekestad, and brother John Haxton.
He is survived by his ex-wife Rhonda (Doug) Wolters, Son Allen (Cindy) Diel, Daughters Jennifer Diel, Samantha Diel, Marisol Torres, and Sabrina Diel-Torres. Siblings Vicky (Dave) Lohmann, Beth (Steve) Robb, Kenny Diel, Patty (Brian) Hitchcock, Christy Diel, and Jack (Marty) Thompson. Grandchildren Jordan (Lydia) Diel, Alex (Brock) Diel, Peyton Diel, Clarence Wilson, Avante Ford, Hailey Thompson, Ava Diel-Fuerstenberg, Hunter Benson, Ariah Taylor, and Aerion Torres. As well as many nieces and nephews.
Although he is no longer physically with us, his spirit lives on in every cup of coffee had with friends.
