Arlene F. Stenzel, Mankato, died Monday, May 29, 2017 at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.  Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Woodland Hills Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jay Dahlvang officiating.  Visitation will be held two hours prior to the services at Woodland Hills Funeral Home.  Interment will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park.

Arlene was born January 15, 1928 to Arthur A. and Alma D. (Fischer) Zabel in Danville Township, Blue Earth County, Minnesota.  She graduated at the age of 16 from Minnesota Lake High School and then went on to attend the Minneapolis School of Business.  Arlene was united in marriage to Edward M. Stenzel on April 10, 1956 in Mankato.  She worked at Lundin Brothers Construction, Federated Insurance of Owatonna, Alter & Son in Davenport, Iowa, and Wells Lumber Company.  In her free time she enjoyed cooking, reading, movies, plays, dancing, embroidery, fishing, gardening, and she loved music.  She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church since 1963 and was a member of the American Legion Post #11 Ladies Auxiliary and the VFW Post #950 Ladies Auxiliary.

Arlene is survived by her daughter, Laurie H. Stenzel of Danville Township; son, Bryce O. Stenzel of St. Clair; sister, Dee J. (Burton) Eppen of Apple Valley; nephews, Allan (Nancy) Swenson, Mark Eshelman, and Scott Eppen, Jeff (Linda) Groskreutz,; nieces Linda (Joel) Geartner and Gayle (Tom) Dybvik;  grand nieces and nephews; and great grand nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward M. Stenzel; parents, Arthur A. and Alma D. Zabel; and sisters, Evelyn O. (Fred) Swenson and Dellora M. (Paul) Eshelman
