Helena Theresa (Deling) Kopischke, age 90, of Madison Lake, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Oak Terrace in North Mankato, her home since 2015. Visitation will be from 4pm to 7pm on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 200 Park Avenue NE in Elysian, and 1 hour before the service at the church. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at 10:30am with Reverend Russell Grabau officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Elysian.

Helen was born February 27, 1928, in Fairmont, the daughter of Frederick and Johanna (Oltman) Deling. She married Clarence Kopischke on September 25, 1955, in Vernon Center. Always a hard-working woman, she was employed at Shari Candies in Mankato for more than 25 years and continued working various jobs into her eighties. Helen was a faithful Christian woman who loved children and was a Sunday school teacher at Bethlehem Lutheran for more than 35 years.  In her spare time, she was an avid bird watcher, baker, gardener, and reader.

Helen is survived by her six children, Darrell (Patti) of Janesville, Carol (Jon) Schneider of Eagle Lake, Marilyn (Bob) Pongratz of Good Thunder, Glorie (Mike) Kaderlik of Madison Lake, Mark (Tami) of Madison Lake, and Leroy (Cindy) of Elysian; 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one brother, John Deling of Waseca.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, six sisters and one brother.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association, or Mayo Hospice Association.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the staff of Oak Terrace of North Mankato for the excellent care that they provided to our mom and grandma.
